Temporary Shutdown of QPay Debit Gateway

In August 2015, Hobby Chan’s website introduced customers to a new implemented payment gateway for its e-Commerce store. QPay.
Customers were able to place orders using their Visa, MasterCards and more, making the online store a much more user friendly and convenient for our customers inside and outside the States of Qatar. Before that, Hobby Chan’s website supported COD (Cash on Delivery) only, restricting all orders within Qatar only.

On May 30th, 2016 - Hobby Chan Anime Store received the following statement from QPay, the company who owns the QPay payment gateway at the site, and the quote says:

“A late communication was sent to us on 25th May, 2016 that the Qatar Central Bank will shut down the QPay Debit Gateway for approximately 90 days; thus your web site will no longer be able to accept Qatar Issued Debit Cards”

At the moment, customers who are placing orders through QPay with a Qatar issued credit cards will no longer be able to do so until further notice. Customers will be able to place orders using the traditional Cash on Delivery method, to compromise for this issue, Hobby Chan have introduced another method of paying by Bank Wires. Although this might delay the process time of the order, the company felt the need to add this method as an optional payment solution until we receive further news from QPay regarding Qatar Central Bank’s decision.

Customers residing outside the States of Qatar will not be affected, this includes the following countries: Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Oman and Yemen. QPay payment method will be available as an option upon checkout.
